who we are
MISSION
To encourage self-expression, build confidence, foster community, and support the development of Black youths' artistic practice. We founded PBY to address the challenges we face as young Black recording artists such as limited access to mentors who look like us, inaccessible creative environments due to poverty/low income, systematic anti-Black racism, being pushed out of the education system, and lack of safe spaces while trying to develop our skills and learn our craft.
VISION
We want to create a free and accessible safe(r) brave(r) creative hub for Black artists to receive unlimited mentorship, access industry-standard equipment and training, and build connections.
VALUES
We believe Black youth deserve free, accessible creative spaces where they can express themselves fully, build confidence, and grow as artists without barriers. We value mentorship rooted in lived experience, youth leadership at every level, and community-driven programming that responds directly to the realities Black youth face. Everything we do is grounded in safety, collaboration, and the power of creativity to transform lives.
